Today I got to formally meet a Dave, a student in the A.P.E class. He is a regular attendee of class, but somehow I had never been able to chat with him. Today, however, I had a good talk with him and got to know him much better. Dave is a 27 year old Asian American and works as a professional club DJ. I asked him when he started as a DJ, and to my surprise, he told me that he had began at age 15. By age 19 he was a paid professional. I was somewhat surprised, because most of the disabled people in class don’t work. Yet Dave is physically and mentally disabled, his movements and speech has been slowed down, and still works in a great job. I didn’t ask him what type of accident or health issues he went through, but I could see that he had a hole on his neck from some prior surgery. I’m pretty sure Dave has retained all of his mental ability prior to his disability. Although he moves and seems to act differently than an average person, I can tell he is still intelligent. He was adjusting his life jacket while in the pool, and because I could tell he was fumbling with the straps, I asked him if he was all right. “This jacket sucks,” he said. He’s a completely normal guy, just disabled.

n he'z into Hip HOpP. by the way. the stuff written above looks really geeky because im supposed to edit it up all nice and send it to my english teacher.
