Ono's

So today I ate in Westwood with a friend of mine named Kevin. It almost didn't happen. I called Kevin about dinner time and he picked up speaking in a really quiet voice. He said he was in the museum (it was a comic exhibit). So I told him that we would talk later and eat some other time. I had to study for finals anyway. About thirty mintues later, Kevin called back and asked if i was down, and I said sure.

After a complex journey of biking/walking/fixing my bike/locking my bike up to some random rail... I arrive at Ono's, which is like a Hawaiian foodage restaurant. I see Kevin... and a girl. What the. Kevin interacts with girls? Museum/company/with a female? Talking like friends? This was surprising. She was japanese and wasn't ugly either. But Kevin...Kevin is one of the biggest nerds when it comes to games... goodness, he has a website called "game hermaneutics," knows everthing to know about final fantasy. So anyways, we talk while eating and I find they know each other from Asian studies classes (they're both minoring in it). And I see that she shares similar, radical, asian american zeal (or anti-racism, to the point of racism. Or actually, staight-up racism and racial pride as an asian). Nice girl, but quite scary. Probably feminist.

So the moral of the story is: there will always be girls who will hang out with guys. just some are weirder than others.
