I had my CM regional panel audition this morning. WOWeee, what a trip!! Place: Diablo Valley College (messed up name, I know), Time: 10:00, but it got moved to 10:30, Who: Na****** and I. What: Play violin for some judges to see if we could continue to the state level.
I was allready nervous because I didn't have sufficient time to practice my music. On Tuesday my teacher called and told me about some audition I had to do. Audition? "What is she talking about?" I thought. Crazy crazy crazy. Guess what they told me 15 minutes before my audtion? I had to perform 3rds, 6ths, and octaves for the judges! So I'm waiting outside the room in which I would play, listening to the student before me. Out she comes, in I go.
My solos went very well; the judges stopped me after the first minute of the Bruch Concerto (my best piece), which sort of bothered me because I practiced this darn thing so much for these gusy- GAH! 3rds, 6ths, and octaves I nailed. I started crossing those strings and the two judges look at each other like "Finally, a kid who can actually play in tune. Sheesh." The compliment me and I open the door to leave. AH!
"You!" It's Cath***** from orchestra. She's going in with another girl. "Hey Cath****," I say. "I knew it was .." She says some stuff I don't remember. Ok lots of stuff happened (Cath*** had to rush away, and the lady who was going to drive her to orchestra pulled her by the arm like in a cartoon-bah I can't type it out, it just looked so funny). then N. and I are told we made the state level. Oh BOY!
